No longer updating the So There forum
Written by Vramin
Sunday, 06 May 2007

The guys over at So There have moved from vBulletin to Invision Power Board. Ordinarily I would update my bot to post the leveling announcements to IPB (I know Vershana still looks for them when she is playing), but I'm not going to deal with their annoying administrators anymore, so I just turned it off. Sorry, Vershana.

Updates should still be hitting at MMO Town, but we're not doing much on that forum these days, so it doesn't matter much. You should still go there if you see a bug or need other support in the registry.

A Little Bit of Server Trouble
Written by Vramin

They've been changing the way that our server works, and it's caused a few problems with the registry. It appears that I have things straightened out for the City of Heroes Registry, but the the City of Villains Registry is throwing a 404 error. We're still working to get it resolved, and apologize for any inconvenience.

Forum Update Update
Written by Vramin
Monday, 17 April 2006
The way the forum update script works, when a character levels a record gets saved, then a scheduled job comes along and picks it up. When it does it sends out some notification emails and posts a leveling announcement on MMO-Town and the So There forums.Thing is, sometimes people don't come update their characters all that often, so they might make several levels in the meantime. They'll pull their characters up and then hammer on the Level Up button until they're up to date. That means a whole pile of emails goes out, and a whole pile of forum updates gets posted. I just modified things so that, if there's already an update notification waiting to go out, that one will just get updated rather adding a new one. Should lower the number of posts considerably. It's still possible that you could click to level just as the scheduled job goes off, but then I think we would only see two postings, tops.
